It was set up by Shri K.L. Govil, a dedicated educationist, in 1930. It started off as a proprietary concern which was later converted to a partnership.
The Company was incorporated as a private limited company in 1977 and converted into public limited company in 1993.
In due course of time the Company established itself as one of India’s foremost educational publishers amidst competition from other publishing companies. Now the company can look back on those difficult days with a sense of achievement and fulfillment at having survived all the odds. The Company’s policy of bringing out new publications was always based on finding out the actual needs of the students and teachers at all levels and the projects were planned to cater to those needs. In all of Shri K.L. Govil’s endeavours he had the unstinted supported of his two sons, Late Sh. Suresh C. Govil and Mr Ramesh C. Govil.
In December 2007, Macmillan India Ltd. acquired majority stake in Frank Bros. (Publisher) Ltd. This alliance will help bring world class quality to Frank Bros. books and operations and
fulfill needs of Schools, Teachers, Students, and Parents better.
