Heimat-Atlantica is a Paris based brand, specialising in accessories and the preservation of traditional production processes. Founded by Montserrat Alvarez with the aim of transforming and preserving specific know-hows from the Atlantic coast.
‘Heimat’, a uniquely German word that translates to the expression of the bond each individual holds with their country of origin, is exactly what guides the brand while working with artisans from northern Spain and Portugal. Heimat-Atlantica creates accessories that look to the landscape and culture of Spain and Portugal's Atlantic coasts for inspiration.
The first of Heimat-Atlantica creations was the Heimat Bag. A collage from Sargadelos porcelain, traditional hand-woven reed Portuguese basket and made from handcrafted leather. Alvarez composed it for her personal use two years ago and supposedly it helps finding “LOVE”.

Montserrat Alvarez
Montserrat Alvarez was born in A Coruña, her work has always been guided by her hand-in-hand working process with creators and artisans. She graduated in both History of Art and Fashion at Rome's Sapienza University, and History of Architecture at the Sorbonne, Alvarez is also the manager of the Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec design studio and most recently the founder of Heimat-Atlantica. Alvarez’s reverence for traditional craftsmanship and local artisans from Spain and Portugal's Atlantic coasts is combined with industrial production processes.

Designed by Montserrat Alvarez, the pouch is crafted from supple leather, available in green, blue and red. The front is framed with a distinct designer golden plaque. It is embellished with a porcelain motif from Sargadelos, a specific symbol that brings joy to people. The pouch comes with a removable handle, offering different ways to style it.
