One of the most important British designers of the 20th century, the late Robin Day OBE (1915 - 2010) is lauded for introducing materials such as plywood, steel and plastic into the modern design world. A Royal College of Art graduate, Day began his career working with manufacturer Hille before designing the Festival of Britain Homes & Garden display and the Royal Festival
Hall auditorium seating, which still stands to this day. With a career dedicated to designing low-cost, ‘high tech’, mass produced furniture, Day's legacy is rooted in his realisation of the power of modern design, and making it accessible to a larger audience.
