World renowned for his revolutionary and provocative work, American photographer Robert Mapplethorpe was one of the twentieth century's most important and influential artists. This eponymous tome published by Phaidon is a revised and updated edition of the most comprehensive survey published of Mapplethorpe's photography. Across 384 pages, the monograph — edited by Mark Holborn — offers an overview of the artist's black-and-white photography of floral still lifes, nudes, self portraits, and portraits, as well as a selection of his colour images. The 250 illustrations are accompanied by an introduction by Andrew Sullivan.
