Having grown up in Japan, Lebanese designer Nada Debs has always been fascinated by the two cultures' similarities in design sensibilities and production techniques. This curiosity is brought to life with the designer's 'Tatami' tray series, which combines woven Japanese tatami flooring from Japan with Beirut marquetry craftwork. Here a soft gradient of green marks the tray's base in a nod to the kimonos of modern geishas, while a boxed border is inlaid with the designer's contemporary take on marquetry.
