Serene Scandinavian Designs
Nomess is a Danish brand, founded in 2007 by Suzanne Potts, which brings serene order to our living spaces, with functional and aesthetic products. Making our everyday life easier and better-looking, with a focus on furniture, travel, bathroom, storage and workspace.
Potts was driven by her love of iconic Danish design and desire for simplified style. Items are understated but playful and have become a go to for creative people all over the world. Nomess spearheads the idea that functionality cannot stand alone, needing aesthetics to help it function.
The name is a merging of “No” and “Mess”, a clear declaration of what the brand stands for and aims to achieve. However, simple and classically Scandinavian hooks, shelves, make-up storage and acrylic boxes are not designed to hide your mess, but rather create organised chaos. Nomess allows you to stay tidy while still being able to show off your belongings and add personality to your home.
Designer Focus
Lex Pott
Lex Pott produces designs that are reduced to their very essence. In 2009 he graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven and now runs his own studio in Amsterdam. Working largely in wood, stone and metal, Lex Pott creates self-initiated projects as well as designing for international labels and producers.
Iconic Products
‘Spring’ Scissors
Lex Pott, known for his raw and intuitive methods, was set with the task of rethinking scissors for Wallpaper* Handmade 2015. Inspired by traditional Japanese cutting instruments, the resulting scissors are exquisite in sculptural simplicity, comprised of just a single piece of metal that is bent into a spring to create tension for the flattened and sharpened blades. Usable for both left and right handed people.
‘Radar’ Side Table
'Radar' is in equal parts a functional side table and a statement artistic piece, defined by its bold silhouette and asymmetric lines. It is made from powder coated metal and the green table features a built-in shelf, ideal for storing books, magazines and laptops and keeping the table's smooth elegant plains clean and uninterrupted. A tiny slot to the rear of the table holds cords in place, solving the universal problem of fumbling for charger cords in the dark.
‘Index’ Console Table
Designed for 'compact living', the 'Index' table is a simple and versatile design by Nomess Copenhagen. It is crafted from black powder coated metal. The tall but slim table offers a deceptive amount of storage. A perforated cassette placed at the rear of the table offers room to store paperwork and books, and also features two small holes through which cables can be fed for a neat and tidy desk or console. It is perfect for hallways or bedrooms.
