Swiss creative Hans Coray (1906-1991) began his career in the 1930s experimenting with metal and wire, using the two materials to create furnishings, industrial products and sculpture. By the late 1930s Coray had developed the 'Landi' chair — the official chair of the 1939 Swiss National
Exhibition — the first of his seating designs to be produced and a landmark moment in design history. Closely associated with artists from the Dada and the Concrete Art movement in Zurich where he grew up, Coray spent the latter stages of his career focused on painting and sculpture.
