A collaborative project between world-famous designer Naoto Fukasawa and renowned Japanese Washi paper maker ONAO, the Siwa lifestyle collection boasts a unique aesthetic with modern and traditional elements. Located in Ichikawamisato, ONAO have a rich history in the art of creating Washi paper, otherwise known as Soft Naoron, where a team of expert craftsmen blend a unique mix of wood pulp and polyolefin to create a soft, crinkled-effect material that is both water and tear resistant, and which can harness heavy loads with ease.
Teamed with Fukasawa, Siwa – a reversing of the characters in 'washi' and a word meaning 'crinkle' in Japanese – design everything from hats to phone cases and digital sleeves with a respect and reverence for both time-honoured and contemporary design techniques.
