In 'Katachi', designers Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl explore the delicate balance between light, shadow, and form. The mouthblown glass vase for 101 Copenhagen takes its name from the Japanese for "shape". An irregular silhouette — characterized by protrusions and an uneven surface — gives the piece an intriguing, organic feel. Subtly distorting and refracting the light, and creating soft shadows and pockets of depth, the vase's enigmatic quality is enhanced by a smoked forest hue. Whether filled with found branches or displayed unadorned, the small 'Katachi' vase brings a quiet sense of poetry and atmosphere to spaces.
