An homage to Japanese folk crafts, designer Denis Guidone recreates the aesthetics of an uwade cast iron teapot entirely in borosilicate glass. As part of Ichendorf Milano's 'Folk' series, 'Folk Optic' takes the idea of the clear teapot to a radically new level of design. The object's silhouette, with its reinforced base, draws playfully on the weight and form of a stove-top tea kettle. This illusion of weight is further contrasted with graceful ridges in the glass. This shapely design, with its curved handle, delicate lid, and leak-proof spout reveals the rich colors and movement of its contents. The teapot seems to float as it's poured, becoming somehow momentarily invisible.
