George Nelson

An architect by training, George Nelson (1908-1986) became design director at Herman Miller in the 1940s, where he remained till 1972. His time at the company includes work with Charles and Ray Eames, Isamu Noguchi and Alexander Girard. He started collaborating with Vitra in 1957, creating numerous design classics. His archive is held at the Vitra Design Museum.
