Designed by Salim Al Kadi for House of Today, the 'Makhba' soap comprises two opposing modules which, when placed together, interlock to create a hollow inside. The idea is that an item can be placed inside this void, and once the edges of the two pieces of soap are sealed together with water, the object remains inside until the olive oil soap dissolves with use.

Salim Al-KadiHailing from Beirut, Salim Al-Kadi is both a practicing architect and a senior lecturer at the American University of Beirut’s Department of Architecture and Graphic Design. A graduate of the American University of Beirut and Columbia University, Al-Kadi also founded Beirut Architecture Office where his work is led by a belief that the architect's role is not to build confidence in the built environment but to disrupt the apparent stasis by introducing necessary hesitation.
