Bigger than the Hulk’s fist and weightier than Thor’s hammer, Taschen's 'Marvel Comics Library. Avengers. Vol. 1. 1963–1965' relives the classic early adventures of The Avengers in an XXL-sized edition. Tracing the foundations of the Marvel Age, laid in 1963, the mammoth volume tracks the follow up to the introduction of the Fantastic Four — Spiderman, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange and Hulk — in 1961 with the assemblage of Iron Man, the Wasp and Thor to create the Avengers. The early adventures of this ever-changing line-up are presented as closely to their original publication as possible, with Taschen photographing a collection of pristine comics, only digitally remastering with modern techniques to correct the imperfections of the 1960s printing press. The resulting volume is accompanied by an original foreword by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, original art, little-seen photographs and rare documents alongside an in-depth history by the Eisner Award-winning writer Kurt Busiek.
