Back in 1945 Charles and Ray Eames designed a toy elephant made from plywood, which ultimately never went into production. Despite its fame — a prototype was exhibited at New York's Museum of Modern Art in 1946 — the elephant was never produced en masse until 2007, when Vitra released a limited edition. Fast forward to 2018 and Vitra have now launched the very first serial production of the 'Eames Elephant', this time scaled down in size and crafted from green polypropylene. With exaggerated proportions and smooth curved lines, the elephant presents a comforting figure that is both playful and familiar.
