Designed by famed Japanese-American artist and designer Isamu Noguchi in 1951, the 'Akari' light sculpture collection brings together a series of lamps and luminaires made by hand from washi paper. The word akari translates to 'light' in Japanese and in this particular design refers to both the purpose of the lamp as well as its perceived weightlessness. Manufactured by Vitra and handcrafted in an Ozeki workshop, the 'Akari 9A' floor lamp features a shade formed from washi paper with bamboo ribbing, which sits atop three extended legs for a standout light source guaranteed to make waves in any space. Supplied with an EU plug.
