Cutlery gift box

Dutch designer Maarten Baas' spontaneous, almost childlike shapes are front and centre in this 16-piece cutlery set for Valerie_objects. Featuring unbrushed stainless steel knives, forks, tablespoons and teaspoons, the set presents an aesthetic that is both impulsive and sketchy — the designer himself likens the forms to those often found in the rapid sketches at the design stage that are often lost in the production process. Case in point: the erratic serrations on the knife-edge — simple to draw, yet challenging to craft in reality. The set comes in a wooden gift box.
