Fort Standard is a contemporary design Studio and manufacturer founded in 2011 in Red Hook, Brooklyn where it remains today, by industrial designers Gregory Buntain and Ian Collings, which pairs timeless materials with modern processes. As of 2018, founder and designer Gregory Buntain remains alone, to continue this mission, and to explore the latest interplay of natural materials and modern production processes to create distinctive designs rooted in simplicity and functionality.
Merging progressive design thinking with an obsessive approach to craft, Fort Standard’s lighting, furniture and home goods collection, FS Objects, help transform everyday spaces into ideal living environments. The result is a series of objects that possess what Buntain describes as a “warm-contemporary” aesthetic, and offer both simplicity and functionality to users.
